Change is threaded through every aspect of reality. The seasons change, each day, week, month, year, things change, sometimes small, sometimes big. The changes within us can be feelings, health, moods, thoughts, perspective, values and growth.
Many people feel different about change and this can be thought about in three ways:
- Change that we choose
- Aspects of change that is imposed upon us
- Sporadic change that just happens to us occasionally
With any change, there are negative and positive feelings and sensations, thoughts and outcomes. Furthermore, can you think of a recent change that you have chosen, that has been imposed on you, or just happened?
• How did it come about?
• How did you physically feel?
• What were the thoughts that were running through your mind
• Who did you talk to about it?
• Did you initially approach the change positively or negatively?
• How did you approach the change after a while
• What did you do about the changes?
• What do you think about the changes now?
With any change there is a time of self-reflection and during this self-reflection an awareness of who we are evolves, but as the awareness of who we are comes to the forefront of reflection and questioning it may further strengthen our awareness of who we are and make it easier to approach the change whatever it may be with less negative feelings and outcomes. It doesn’t mean that all change will be easy but it certainly gives a very grounded position to analyse yourself prior to, during and following the changes.
