I recently read a great book and I want to share the book with you and essentially what the main idea is! But I also encourage you to read it or investigate the concept a little further.
Whether you are trying to achieve a goal or change and whether it is as an individual or collectively as a group/organisation/society it is possible and sustainable to achieve these things when approached from the right perspectives. The book I have been reading is One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way by Robert Maurer
It is a book about taking small steps to achieve whatever it is that you are aiming for. It is not about big or grandiose changes all at once, it is not about innovation on a surprising scale, while the goal/s maybe big, the steps to achieving them are small and consistent. As long as there are steps towards the goals and as long as they are consistent you are more likely to achieve what you are aiming for. The author also discusses addressing issues/difficulties/problems as soon as you see them, do not leave them until further down the track as they will be harder and bigger to address.
The Kaizen way is said to be a Japanese approach to achieving, however, in this last century it was an American that used the approach during the war in the 1940’s with the American forces and society not sure how they would approach such a massive amount of inventory and people required to fight. Every company and organisation across America were asked to think of 1 small thing they could do assist the armed forces. In the end, America had more than enough supplies and people to contribute to the war. Following the war, the Japanese then employed the Americans who used this approach in the West to apply to rebuilding businesses and creating the perfection in services and products often seen in and from Japan to this day.
When approaching something in life focusing on what it is that you want to achieve, consider the small simple steps first and start there. In other words, start where you are and start small, while the bigger goal is on the horizon the small steps will get you there. Read the book, it will definitely change the way you approach lots of things that you do. Below is a link where you can purchase the book online.
Have a great day.
