Welcome to 2021.
I have not written a post for a considerable amount of time. 2020 – ‘The Year That Was’ threw so many things up in the air for everyone, me included and I was required to make hard decisions and priorities. One priority was to drop the post writing even though I love it, but it was not necessary with everything else that I had going on. If you missed the post updates, I hope that you had fun reviewing all the previous ones, there are plenty there!!
2021 seems to have started in a very busy fashion, how about you?
If it has and you haven’t already taken the time to sit and get organised please do, whether that is getting your thoughts in order, writing in the diary/calendar, sending the emails, cleaning out the house, having some tough conversations, prioritising or vision boarding. You will feel better for it. And of course, you know, if you require coaching drop me line – masteryofdoing@gmail.com
Given the way 2021 has started, if yours is as busy as mine something that you need to consider is how to be still. Why?
Because, in the stillness many things can bubble up; thoughts, emotions, memories, reminders, new ideas, realisations, body feelings, messages from within/without, a word, a song of relevance, a vision. You will know the relevance as it presents if you allow the time.
It is important to our very being to take the time to be still and notice what we notice in the stillness, it does not always mean that something needs to be done, but just noticing is sometimes enough to reset, refocus, consolidate decisions, gain creativity, make acknowledgements, start new projects, visit the dentist, stop a friendship, make a commitment, the possibilities are endless.
What stillness looks like?
It is dependent on the individual but also allowing the space for it to be different based on the situation. Some people find stillness in meditation, others while in nature, surfing, running, yoga, breath work, readying, writing, drawing, gardening, woodwork, tinkering in the shed. There is no right or wrong way, however, listen to your body, if you are one who finds stillness through movement, but your body is exhausted a different approach is required. If you are tired/bored/not loving the artwork, then try something different. Your mind-body connection will love you for it!
Take the time for some stillness and let me know what transpires for you.
Happy 2021 everyone.
