It’s A New Year!
What are you thinking about heading into 2017? People start planning in November with business plans, plans for the family, for the family home, saving, holidays, ventures, weddings, babies, you name it. As it nears the end of one year and a new year approaches people start ‘planning’. We all know the saying ‘Fail to plan, plan to fail’, then we hit the time between Christmas and New Years and people need to recoup, its New Years Eve and it is time to start putting those plans into place.
But do you get sidetracked? Overindulged over the festive season? Getting caught up in what the media, your friends need to do now it is the new year? And it gets to Easter or mid-year and you realise that you have not even started your to-do list for 2017.
Firstly take a step back from the hype of what everyone else is doing and clear your head, review what your plans and goals were from the end of 2016. Do this on your electronic device in note form, essay form, diagrams, timelines, brainstorm, in your new 2017 diary.
Now prioritise what will need to be addressed first, second, third etc. Then with each activity or goal that you have prioritised plan how you will achieve it with a timeline if required (depending on the goal or the activity).
Considering now you have essentially begun putting in place actions to begin and therefore achieve your plans or goals for 2017, you are in a much better position to begin 2017 with the confidence you intended. If you have major health goals on your list make sure you plan for these, if they are just to stop drinking in excess, improve your diet, exercise more then you may need an ‘improve your lifestyle’ goal, because as we will further investigate over 2107, why it is important that everyone takes more responsibility for improving their lifestyle.
