No Lines, No Rules
It’s funny (not in ha-ha way) what COVID-19 has exposed to everyone on a global, national, local, and individual level. There are so many different areas, layers, topics and unknowns. As we all work through this pandemic in our own lives, areas, homes, work etc there are so many different things that are being smashed open for us to look at and some of these things are new and some need to be reviewed (and for good reason). Regardless of your situation or stance on what is going on around the world and also closer to you at home there is something to consider; we have not been in this position before and this has been scary and liberating at the same time. There are no right or wrong answers and there are news ways of doing things.
Given the old ways are not necessarily going to work moving forward I want you to try something… If you don’t like writing or journaling you will be rolling your eyes, but it is worth a try, if you do however, you will be in your element.
Task:
For one week I want you to write on a blank piece of paper, it can be a journal, but the paper needs to be blank, or just use scrap paper. I want you to write, draw, doodle, whatever is on your mind, how you feel, whatever whatever, whatever (remember ‘no lines, no rules), but just commit to it for one week. It does not need to take a long time, but by the same token it can take as long as you need.
What I want to you to consider:
- What does it feel like to allow yourself this time?
- What is it like looking at a blank piece of paper and working on it without the pre-conceived idea of not having lines, not having to necessarily write words, thoughts, sentences, or maybe the words poured out?
- What changed (this does not need to be specific to the blank pieces of paper)?
- What will you change moving forward?
I would love to know how things went for you!
