We have all heard it, change, something needs to change, someone needs to change, and there is so much change. Change, change, change, change, change.
Yes, there is but for many of us our lives very much stay the same, we see the same people, we participate in the same routines, we have the same reactions to situations, we go to the same coffee shop each day, you get the idea. So when change is knocking at our door or imposed on us, it can be very difficult to deal with. We can feel any of the following:
- Like we may have mental health issues or non-specific health symptoms.
- We may feel like some things are required to be changed but we are not sure what.
- We may be fearful or not sure how to create the changes required.
- Consistently waking up at night with a racing mind or worried but not really sure what you are waking up about.
- Not really sure who you can see about your dreams, what is worrying you, what your next steps forward should be.
- Feeling uncertain.
What happens when we want to change something in our lives, we have to change on an internal level first, we need to focus our thoughts, we need to focus on changing our actions and/reactions, we need to consciously practice-changing and being different to what we want. We also need to understand that we will feel uncomfortable for a certain amount of time. However, as we focus on the changes that we want to see within us, we will begin to see more of it around us and only then do we really start to realise we have a certain level of control and I would say responsibility for change that we want to create for ourselves. I think this is exciting even though at times it can feel hard, frightening, and uncertain and sometimes downright crazy.
What if the change is imposed on us, we lose our job? The rent is up and will not be renewed, those unexpected changes? The best way to deal with this change is to go with the flow and explore it for what it is and approach it with curiosity instead of fear, anger and overwhelm. Consider what it potentially has to offer us. Therefore, consider what there is in this situation that can be;
- Learnt.
- Offer growth and therefore change.
- Have some type of positive outcome.
Whenever there is change, there will be a time of difficulty and uneasiness and transition, however, in the times in which we live, there is currently so much change around us and how we deal with this change will either make our lives feel fulfilled or that we are a victim in our life.
At the end of the day, it is our choice to create the change we dream of and/or to explore the changes imposed on us. With every door shut, a new door opens.
